Beyond flavour: why eat seaweed?
Seaweed is the most mineralised vegetable on Earth, rich in potassium, magnesium, fibre, calcium, protein and iron.
Seaweed is the best natural source of iodine, essential for the thyroid gland to maintain heart function, thinking and reasoning, body temperature and weight control. Two-thirds of British women do not get enough iodine in their diet.
Seaweed contains 85% less sodium than table salt, but offers as much salty flavour thanks to healthy mineral salts.
Seaweed is low in fat and calories, vegan and gluten free.
