A Valued Ancient Gaelic Tradition

Back in the 7th century a coastal croft with a rich crop of dulse seaweed on its shoreline increased a farm's value as much as having a cow.

Where Our Seaweed Comes From

We harvest at carefully chosen locations around the Scottish coastline, under license from The Crown Estate and Scottish Natural Heritage.

How We Harvest Seaweed

We wait until the tides are lowest, which depends on the moon, the tide and the season. Then we select the seaweed, cut it above the root and heave it ashore.
What happens once the seaweed is picked

What Happens After Harvesting

The seaweed is transported to our facilities beside the shore in Granton, Edinburgh where it's air-dried at low heat to retain flavour, nutrients and colour.

Packed Just the Way You Like It

We mill the dried seaweed into flakes and carry out food safety tests before packing it on site. Then it's ready to pop in the post and find its way to your plate as a seasoning!
